Mostly the car runs perfect the only issue I have is if the car is sitting any length of time I get air in the system. The annoying thing is that it does not happen all the time. It seems to be worse when it gets really cold and also when I get down to 1/4 of a tank or less.

Posted November 1, 2015. You should get about 14v with the engine on, so your alternator is probably good. Test the Battery voltage with the engine off, it should still be towards 14v, even after sitting for a few days. If it's down a bit your batty is probably on the way out, or there's something draining it. Quote.

Good Car I have a 2005 avensis with 75000 on clock.Lots of space comparing to my previous 2004 corolla.7 seater without look of people mover. Milage comparable to corolla (9 to 10 liters per 100km). Not regreting on my choice. I don't like sliding door (has to use extra power) in tarago. Hidden Laggage space at expense of full extra tyre.
Nothing too extreme of course. Avensis folk wouldn't appreciate that. Just enough to meet the class standard so that there was less to distract the attention from the sensible stuff this car does so well. It wasn't enough to prevent sales from fizzling out and the Avensis was quietly withdrawn from the UK market in 2018.

If it's reasonable and something that you'd want to invest in the car to keep it long term, why not - it's really not that bad of a car nor that bad of an engine. Japanese cars and diesels don't mix that well - Toyota's own designed diesels are worse. The good Japanese engines available in Europe are mostly the late model year Petrol ZR series.
