Boron is relatively immobile in plants. The first visual symptoms of B deficiency are typically the death of the terminal growing point of the main stem. Further symptoms include brittle and slightly thickened leaves, vein splitting, a tendency for the leaf blade to curl downward, and at times chlorosis (Figure 2).
Role of iron on plants. Used as carrier of oxygen. Enhance cell division and growth of plants. Enhance formation of chlorophyll. Essential for respiratory reactions. Essential for photosynthesis activity. Symptoms of iron deficiency in plants. Reduction in production of chlorophyll. Interveinal chlorosis may occur. Leaf become whitish yellow.
Causes: Iron deficiency arises from poor iron solubility in alkaline soils or high phosphorus levels, which can limit iron uptake by plants. Zinc (Zn) Deficiency: Common symptoms: Leaves may become smaller, exhibit interveinal chlorosis, and curl upwards. A characteristic “rosetting” appearance may develop.
