Mensa really doesn't do that. It simply compares the scores of everyone who took the exact same test and isolates its members to those who scored at the 98% percentile. While the individual tests might claim an IQ number, Mensa doesn't consider it. It just chooses which tests it chooses to honor. It is a test of your IQ, not what you know or have studied. Yes, and passing one valid mensa test in one lifetime is all that is required to join mensa! The Mensa admission test doesn't give an exact number, but I was in the 1% with a raw score of 107. Between 97 and 120 raw scores is the equivalent of an IQ between 135 and 158 is as specific as Mensa gets on that. It's kind of hard to extrapolate what my IQ is based on the MAT, but I guess around 145 given the ranges. I recently took the practice test on Mensa, and got a 31/33 in about 18 minutes. Most of the questions came fairly easily, with about 6 that took me a while and 2 that I just couldn't figure out (That 3-stick, 3 circle, 3 branching stick one was just evil). But a lot of people who enjoy chess are intelligent. And an IQ of 102 is above average so he is actually intelligent.
