Once found, still using the booklet for your Mercedes A-Class or on the fuse box cover, identify the cigarette lighter fuse. Remove it with the pliers available in the box. If you notice in the non-opaque part that the conductive wire is broken then this implies that the fuse has overheated and that is why you have a cigar lighter problem.

I have a MK2 Zetec Mondeo and I want to get to the wires on the cigarette lighter. I removed the ashtray and blanking plate over the lighter but I can't figure out how to remove the lighter. I have a Haynes manual but it doesn't help at all. Thanks Stuart

Thanks in advance. You're right, it will be a bad or missing fuse, but I can't tell you which position it's in. Fuse 41 is for the cigarette lighter and fuse 39 is for the power point. Both fuses are 20 amp and in the central junction box. Fuse 41 is for the cigarette lighter and fuse 39 is for the power point.
